I conducted a series of interviews with both the staff and elders at BEMSCA. Click on a picture to hear our interviews or read the transcript!

Pauline Swaby-Wallace

Pauline's interview delved into her transition from Jamaica to Bath at a young age, reliving everything from her journey to settling into her new life in England. This led us into a discussion about 'Windrush' and the recent 'Black Lives Matter' movement, giving an insightful reflection on what they mean to her.

Raj

Raj believes that 'you cannot get a better life' than his, and this is something which he explained to me in great detail as we explored his most important memories. He even taught me a mathematics trick and sang to me some of his favourite songs!

Carlton Joseph

Carlton took me on a whistle-stop tour of his life, from growing up in Antigua to moving to Bath for work. His interview also provides an interesting insight into how Bath has changed over the years.

I conducted a series of mini-interviews to find out what the importance of Fairfield House is, from the very people who are integral to keeping Haile Selassie's legacy alive.
