"As audiences, when we are exposed to oral history projects, not only do we learn, but in some ways we bear witness to that which we have not experienced" - Patricia Leavy
Oral history is the recording and archiving of people's memories, feelings and attitudes towards particular events in their lives. This not only allows people to ensure they have a long lasting legacy, but it also provides historians with a valuable primary source.

While the practice of oral histories has its challenges, it is an extremely important tool which is increasingly being used to give a voice to those on the margins of society. For many years their voices have been suppressed and through giving people an opportunity to tell their life experiences, we are able to both learn and understand these hidden stories.

The COVID-19 pandemic has proven the fragility of life. This has given added value to oral history, as it is more important than ever to provide people with a long lasting legacy.
